About the role: We are seeking a Copy Director to lead and shape Sakara Life’s brand voice across all touch points, ensuring that every piece of content reflects our mission, values, and premium positioning. As a key creative leader, you will be responsible for defining and executing a cohesive, compelling tone and style across all written communications—including marketing campaigns, product descriptions, social media, website copy, and email communications.

This role also involves leading the creative copywriting team, including full-time and freelance resources, ensuring seamless collaboration, and maintaining high standards of storytelling and brand messaging. Additionally, you will be responsible for product naming and positioning, playing a critical role in developing language that captures the essence of Sakara’s offerings and resonates with our audience.

You will work closely with the VP of Creative, and support the Marketing, Product Development, and eCommerce teams, to ensure that all messaging drives engagement, builds brand affinity, and supports business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Brand Voice: Define and refine Sakara’s brand voice to ensure consistency across all channels and platforms.
  • Manage the Creative Copywriting Team: Lead, mentor, and oversee the in-house copy team and freelance resources, fostering creativity and excellence.
  • Product Naming & Positioning: Drive the strategic development of product names and positioning, ensuring alignment with Sakara’s mission and market positioning.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic approach to all written content that aligns with business goals and resonates with our audience.
  • Conceptual and Editorial Copy Creation: Write and edit high-quality copy for marketing campaigns, product launches, digital advertising, website, social media, email communications, and packaging.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Customer, Product, and R&D teams to align messaging with broader business strategies.
  • Editorial Oversight: Oversee and approve all written content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • Performance Optimization: Work with the Marketing and eCommerce teams to test and optimize messaging for engagement and conversion.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up with industry trends and audience insights to continuously evolve and improve brand messaging.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional copywriting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to define and maintain a distinct brand voice across multiple channels.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in short-form and long-form copywriting across digital, print, and social platforms.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of writers and freelancers.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in product naming and positioning within a consumer brand.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with wellness, lifestyle, beauty, or consumer brands is a plus.
  • Passion for Sakara’s mission and values, with a deep understanding of how to communicate them effectively.

The pay band for this role is $160,000 - $170,000

This role will be based out of our HQ in NYC (3 days a week in office are required)
