About the role: We are seeking a Nutritionist (Senior Manager) to play a key role in product development and marketing by ensuring our products maintain a high level of nutritional integrity, defining this standard as the internal and external landscape evolves. As one of the nutrition experts at Sakara, you will educate clients and internal teams on the “why” behind our products, programs, and philosophy across multiple channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Nutrition Programming Education and Insights
    • Stay ahead of emerging trends in functional nutrition, supplements, and wellness to inform product development and marketing strategies.
    • Provide insights on the impact of ingredients on overall health and well-being.
    • Share key findings with cross-functional teams to support innovation and strategic decision-making.
    • Collaborate with marketing to develop educational materials that enhance client and internal team understanding of our products and philosophy. 
  • Product Development and Nutritional Expertise
    • Provide strategic guidance on formulations to ensure products align with our nutritional philosophy and quality standards.
    • Serve as the go-to expert on ingredients, formulations, and their intended benefits, maintaining thorough documentation and educational resources.
    • Ensure compliance with internal ingredient standards and regulatory requirements throughout the product development process in partnership with the Head of Regulatory.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize active ingredient levels for efficacy and support accurate, science-backed marketing claims.
  • Meal Innovation and Nutrition Standards
    • Ensure new meal developments align with Sakara’s nutritional philosophy and quality standards.
    • Maintain and implement Sakara’s nutrition guidelines, ensuring cross-functional adoption and alignment.
    • Support macronutrient strategy by defining standards, conducting audits, and optimizing recipes for consistency and balance.
    • Regularly update ingredient exclusion lists based on emerging research and regulatory changes to uphold quality and integrity.
  • External Nutrition Education
    • Support client education by serving as a key resource for external-facing content.
    • Work closely with the Client Services team to develop and refine client-facing nutrition materials, ensuring clarity and alignment with our philosophy. 
    • Serve as a key resource for addressing complex nutrition-related client inquiries, providing expert guidance as needed, and occasionally meeting directly with clients to address their inquiries. 
    • Develop educational video content in collaboration with marketing, ensuring accuracy and alignment with approved claims.
    • Contribute to Sakara’s thought leadership by writing nutrition-focused articles that align with marketing strategies and educational goals.
    • Engage with the Sakara community to educate clients on our philosophy and products, offering brand aligned responses to inquiries.

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in nutrition, functional health, or a related wellness field
  • Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Functional Medicine, Integrative Health or a closely related field.
    • RD/RDN or CNS certification required
    • CNC-CHNC/IIN/NTP/IFM strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of whole food nutrition, plant-based eating, and how diet supports overall health and vitality
  • Passion for translating complex nutritional science into clear, engaging, client-friendly communication
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with teams such as product development, customer experience, and marketing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to convey credibility, clarity, and warmth across channels
  • Experience presenting or consulting in one-on-one and group settings preferred
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in menu or meal plan development that supports specific health outcomes or brand guidelines
  • Deep attention to detail and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and brand alignment
  • Enthusiasm for Sakara’s mission and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the health and wellness of our community

This role is hybrid, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday based at our Sakara NY headquarters. 

The pay range for this position is: $100,000 - $125,000
